New collaboration paves the way for deeper data-driven insights across all formats for both publishers and authors

Edda, The Book Affair and Förlagssystem are entering into a collaboration to further develop how sales data is used to make faster and more informed decisions in the publishing industry.

Edda already provides publishers and authors with continuous, high-level insights into book sales across both digital and physical formats. Through the collaboration with Förlagssystem, and the addition of their more detailed data, the ability to understand how different formats and channels interact over time is now further strengthened.

This is being done together with The Book Affair, who will be the first publisher to, together with their authors, access this expanded, holistic view and help shape how these insights are used in practice.

In an industry where data has long been fragmented, the collaboration represents a step towards a more connected understanding of how books perform — where the relationship between digital consumption and physical sales can be analysed in a way that has not previously been available to the broader market.

Through Edda’s platform, publishers can follow the development of their catalogue in near real time, identify trends earlier, and make more informed editorial and commercial decisions. At the same time, transparency towards authors is strengthened, as they gain access to the same insights.

As one of publishers’ most important partners for physical book sales, Förlagssystem contributes structured, market-leading data. Together with Edda’s analytics layer, this creates a shared understanding across the entire market — from physical distribution to digital consumption.

The Book Affair, as the publishing partner, plays a central role in this work. With strong performance in physical formats alongside significant digital growth, they are particularly well positioned to explore the interaction between formats. With a clear 360-degree perspective, the collaboration marks another step towards a more data-driven and transparent publishing industry.

At The Book Affair, we always start from the author’s perspective. A transparent and data-driven way of working is essential for both us and our authors to make better decisions, faster.

With Edda, we gain access to up-to-date sales data across all formats and can share insights directly with our authors. This creates a more open and engaging collaboration, as well as a more effective and agile way of launching books.”

- Alexandra Torstendahl, CEO, The Book Affair

“I see the collaboration with Edda and The Book Affair as part of a broader shift towards a more connected, data-driven and transparent publishing industry.

By connecting logistics, distribution and sales across all formats, we not only create more efficient flows in the supply chain, but also a shared understanding of how the market as a whole is developing. This gives publishers better conditions to plan long-term, use resources more effectively, and build a more sustainable business over time.”

- Harold Op het Veld, VD, Förlagssystem

“Edda is not just about providing access to data, but about making it easy to act on and useful in day-to-day work. I am very proud that together with Förlagssystem we are now giving The Book Affair a clearer and more complete picture of how books perform over time and how different formats actually relate to each other.

This makes it possible not only to follow development, but to stay ahead in how you plan, prioritise and respond to demand. We look forward to continuing to develop this together.”
